About
A sanctuary of menswear and accessories—curated from the outer edges of fashion’s avant-garde. Rooted in reverence for craftsmanship and narrative, we bring together rare and unique pieces from visionary designers from around the world.
Founded by John Wyatt Hansell in 2025, and born from the confluence of his love of classic Americana, Southwestern roots, and a deep admiration for artisanal creation, AZUL is less a store and more a dialogue between craft and innovation. Every garment is chosen not only for its form, but for the philosophy stitched within—objects of intention that invite a deeper connection between wearer and maker.
Our private, by-appointment showroom in New York City offers a meditative alternative to retail—immersive, intimate, and ever-evolving. Rotating installations of art, music, sculpture converge with fashion to create an environment where discovery is intentional, and consumption is conscious.
This is not fast fashion.
This is enduring design—for those who collect, not consume.
A note on sustainability:
Items at AZUL are chosen with meticulous attention to detail and a rigorous standard of quality we wish to uphold with the things we sell. The artisans & designers we work with are all smaller, independent ateliers who share a similar ethos, are not widely distributed, and produce in small quantities for a handful of worldwide retailers.
AZUL prioritizes (whenever possible) the selection of pieces made with 100% natural materials and limited chemical treatments. Thus reducing your exposure to harmful chemicals, BPA's, micro-plastics and other forever chemicals which are known to leach into the bloodstream & disrupt hormones. The traditional production and application of these materials largely has a negative impact on the environment and typically relies on cheap, unregulated labour from countries with very little oversight.
In this way AZUL offers an alternative to the overconsumption & throw-away tendencies of todays retail market.
